I became involved with the union because I believe firefighters deserve a strong voice and fair representation. I’ve always believed that when members stand together, we can protect not only our careers and benefits, but also the safety and future of the fire service. I wanted to be part of something that helps improve conditions for firefighters while making sure every member feels heard and supported.
What goals or priorities do you hope to accomplish for the membership?
My goal is to continue strengthening communication, unity, and transparency within the membership while fighting for fair pay, better working conditions, improved staffing, and stronger mental health support. I also want to help ensure that firefighters have the equipment, training, and protections they need to do the job safely and effectively.
What do you believe are the biggest challenges facing firefighters and emergency responders today?
Some of the biggest challenges facing firefighters today are staffing shortages, burnout, mental health struggles, increased call volume, cancer risks, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Departments across the country are asking firefighters to do more with less, and it’s important that we continue advocating for resources, safety, and support for those on the front lines.
Is there anything personal you would like the membership to know about you?
Outside of the job and union work, family means everything to me. I take pride in serving both the community and the members I represent. I enjoy training, mentoring younger firefighters, and continuing to learn about the fire service. I’m passionate about making the department and union stronger for the next generation of firefighters.

- C-Shift
Taylor Fitzpatrick has been with Clay County Fire Rescue for roughly 12 years and has been a member of IAFF Local 3362 since the start of his career. He has served as Secretary of the Local for the past six years.
Throughout his time with CCFR, Taylor has been involved in multiple committees and projects both within the union and the department, including work related to fire operations, EMS, Telestaff, member communications, bylaws, and organizational improvements. He became involved with the union because he saw an opportunity to help create meaningful change, improve communication, and support the members who serve Clay County every day.
As Secretary, Taylor believes members should always have someone they can come to for a fair answer, honest guidance, and a straightforward handling of any issue. His goal is to help keep members informed, protect the integrity of the Local, and make sure every member feels heard and represented.
Outside of work and union responsibilities, Taylor is married with children and proudly admits to being a nerd who enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons.

I saw how much the leadership was working and helped everyone. I saw that I would be able to provide a service for my current role.
I hope to accomplish additional streams of revenue for The Union and to raise our capital. The visions we have as a membership require a strong financial foundation.
